                                         THE USE OF STATEMENTS
THERE ARE FOUR SENTENCE TYPES IN ENGLISH. EACH HAS A MAIN USE.
1.STATEMENT
- IT  GIVES THE INFORMATION
- IT DOES NOT ASK
EXAMPLE : Mr. MULYADI TEACHES ENGLISH
2. QUESTION
IT  ASKS THE QUESTION
THERE ARE TWO KINDS OF QUESTION
1.YES/NO QUESTION
A YES/NO QUESTION IS A QUESTION THAT MAYBE ANSWERED BY YES OR NO
 EXAMPLE :
  - ARE YOU A CARPENTER ? YES,I AM / NO,I AM NOT.
  - DO YOU LIKE ENGLISH ? YES, I DO / NO, I DON’T
  2. AN INFORMATION QUESTION IS A QUESTION THAT  ASKS FOR   INFORMATION BY USING A QUESTION WORD

IS USED AS THE SUBJECT OF A QUESTION. IT REFERS TO THINGS
EXAMPLE: WHAT MADE YOU ANGRY ?
WHAT IS ALSO USED AS AN OBJECT
EXAMPLE : WHAT DID RIZKA BUY ?
WHAT KIND OF ASKS ABOUT THE PARTICULAR VARIETY OR TYPE OF SOMETHING
EXAMPLE : WHAT KIND OF MUSIC DO YOU LIKE ?
WHAT + A FORM OF DO IS USED TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT ACTIVITIES
EXAMPLE : WHAT DID YOU DO YESTERDAY ?
WHAT MAY ACCOMPANY A NOUN
EXAMPLE : WHAT COLOR IS HIS HAIR ?
WHAT + BE LIKE ASKS FOR A GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF QUALITIES

IS USED TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT PLACE
EXAMPLE : WHERE CAN I FIND A LIBRARY ?
3.WHEN
IS USED TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT TIME
EXAMPLE : WHEN WILL PRISKA COME ?
4.WHY
IS USED TO ASK QUESTIONS ABOUT REASON
EXAMPLE : WHY DID MAYA LEAVE EARLY ?
5.WHICH
IS USED INSTEAD OF WHAT WHEN A QUESTION CONCERNS CHOOSING FROM A DEFINITE,KNOWN QUANTITY OR GROUP
EXAMPLE : WHICH ONE DO YOU WANT ?
6.WHO
IS USED AS THE SUBJECT OF A QUESTION. IT REFERS TO PEOPLE
IF THE QUESTION WORD IS THE SUBJECT,USUAL QUESTION WORD ORDER IS NOT USED. DOES,DO,AND DID ARE NOT USED. THE VERB IS THE SAME FORM IN A QUESTION AS IT IS IN A STATEMENT.
EXAMPLE :  - STATEMENT : FEDAYIN LIVES IN BEKASI
-         QUESTION : WHO LIVES IN BEKASI ?   

WHO IS USUALLY FOLLOWED BY SINGULAR VERB EVEN THE SPEAKER IS ASKING ABOUT MORE THAN ONE PERSON
EXAMPLE : WHO IS COMING TO MY HOUSE TONIGHT ? THEY ARE BOB             AND MAYA.
7. WHOM
IS USED AS THE OBJECT OF A VERB OR A PREPOSITION. IN EVERYDAY SPOKEN ENGLISH,WHOM IS RARELY USED.WHO IS USED INSTEAD.
8. WHOSE
IT ASKS QUESTIONS ABOUT POSSESSION.
EXAMPLE : WHOSE DICTIONARY IS THIS ?
9. HOW
IT  GENERALLY ASKS ABOUT MANNER.
EXAMPLE : HOW DID YOU COME TO ANGGI’S HOUSE ?
IT IS USED WITH MUCH AND MANY
EXAMPLE : HOW MUCH DOES IT COST ?
                    HOW MANY LECTURERS COME ?
IT IS USED WITH ADJECTIVES AND ADVERBS
- HOW LONG = ASKS ABOUT LENGTH OF TIME
EXAMPLE : HOW LONG HAS SHE BEEN HERE ?
- HOW OFTEN = ASKS ABOUT FREQUENCY
EXAMPLE : HOW OFTEN DO YOU VISIT Mr. CALAVIANO ?
- HOW FAR = ASKS ABOUT DISTANCE
EXAMPLE : HOW FAR IS IT TO KARAWANG FROM HERE ?

III. IMPERATIVE
THE IMPERATIVE IS THE BASE FORM OF THE VERB
THE IMPERATIVE CAN BE USED TO GIVE ORDERS
EXAMPLE : - WAIT OUTSIDE,PLEASE
               -     ANSWER ALL OF MY QUESTIONS
THE IMPERATIVE CAN BE USED TO GIVE THE PROHIBITION
THE NEGATIVE IS DO NOT/DON’T + BASE FORM
 EXAMPLE :  - DON’T REMOVE THE BOOK FROM THE SHELF!
FOR EMPHASIS WE USE DO + BASEFORM    
-         DO BE CAREFUL
THE BASIC USE OF THE IMPERATIVE IS TO TELL SOMEONE WHAT TO DO.
BUT THIS USE IS TO ABRUPT IN MANY SITUATIONS, AND THERE ARE MORE POLITE WAYS OF TELLING PEOPLE WHAT TO DO.
THE IMPERATIVE IS ALSO USED IN THESE CONTEXTS.
